Corporate Social Responsibility

Uhambo is a Zulu word that means "a journey". We see our organisation as a vehicle for the journey of changing Africa one child at a time.

Given the challenges facing the education system in South Africa and many other African countries, we have decided to focus our efforts on helping schools to provide extra tutorial classes on Saturdays in order to supplement the formal classes conducted during the week.  These extra tutorials are conducted by volunteers on Saturdays.

Uhambo Vision

To build a world class, sustainable school support system that integrates the children, parents and teachers.  We believe that involving parents in their children’s education is critical to their academic success.  We also believe that providing additional academic support to the children and empowering teachers with relevant and world class teaching techniques makes a meaningful contribution to alleviating the shortage of resources in schools faced by students and teachers alike.

Uhambo Objectives

  1. Provide educational support to underprivileged children and their families by offering extra lessons, remedial lessons and adult classes for parents.
  2. Provide schools with infrastructural support such as establishing libraries, facilitating book donations, setting up computer labs, etc.
  3. Impart computer skills to teachers and pupils.#Raise funds to cover the cost of school uniform and basic hygiene necessities such as toothbrushes, sanitary towels and toothpaste.
  4. Provide mentorship to the students and teachers
